Welcome to the Children’s Department! We strive to offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our littlest patrons.
We are one of only a handful of libraries in the nation that are Inquire Within sites. We have an active partnership with WQED and PBS which allows us to offer exclusive PBS programming and materials to YOU! Inquire Within Website
We offer programs monthly for children of all ages, including, but not limited to, storytime, baby lapsit, and family fun night.
Additionally, we bring in special programs at no charge to you from places like Snapology, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the Carnegie Science Center.
In addition to our regularly scheduled programs, we hold a Summer Reading Club for children of all ages for 10 weeks throughout the summer. Children can read books to earn prizes as well as participate in programming that matches the theme for the summer. Additional information can be found on our EventKeeper calendar.
There are many opportunities for teens at the library.
In addition to special programs, we meet each month to discuss a title from the Teen Reads for Everyone book club. We also offer a summer reading program for 10 weeks over the summer, where teens can read books to earn prizes as well as participate in weekly programs centered around that summer’s theme.
We are always looking for teen volunteers at the library! Maybe you’d like to help with the children’s programs or come in to help with shelving. If you’re interested, we can find a job for you! Contact the library and fill out an application.
In addition to special programs, Plum Library’s Adult Services also include two book clubs, a weekly Life Writing group, a bi-monthly Circle of Stitchers group, a bi-monthly Scrapbooking group, and a monthly Mahjong group, and a monthly Scrabble group. For more information about registration and dates, please check our Eventkeeper calendar.
