Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night:  Children’s Author, Karen Lynn Williams: Register here to attend. Space is limited. This is for those who have finished preschool through grade 6 and their parents/caregivers.
Kids:  It is not very often that you get to meet a REAL LIVE AUTHOR, up close and personal, is it?!?  Bring your parents to an enjoyable evening at Plum Library with nationally-known children’s author, Karen Lynn Williams.  You will learn about one of her newest books, “Spirit of the Cheetah”.  In addition, you will get to explore her book through some learning stations such as games and crafts throughout the evening.  Karen Lynn Williams will have some of her books available for sale that evening.  In addition, we will raffle off some of her books, as well as serve an ice cold treat.  Can’t wait to see you! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Ongoing Programs

PAWS to Read: Open to children who have completed kindergarten through fourth grade.  Participants must be able to read.​Come prepared to read to some furry therapy dog friends from Westmoreland Obedience Training Club.​Space is limited.  Register here to attend. Registration opens a week prior to the event.

Tales with Teachers: This program is suitable for  Kindergarteners –  4th Graders. On the Plum Borough Community Library Patio. ​Join your favorite Plum Borough School District teachers, as they stop by Plum Community Library or visit us via video to read some “Tails & Tales”! Register here to attend. Registration opens a week prior to the event.

Skins and Skulls program @ Boyce Park: Tuesday, June 22. Be sure to register for your appropriate age group. Register here to attend. Discover the different native animal species that live in our county by examining their skulls and pelts. Learn more about the animals that call our area home.  Also learn: Can an opossum hang from its tail? What does a beaver use its tail for? Join Miss Tammy from Plum Library and the Allegheny County Park Rangers to discover what kinds of animals live in our area and what’s so special about their tails.​ Session grades k-6 from 1:00pm-2:00pm is full.

Book Babies: Wednesday, June 23 @ 11:00am-11:30am Infants through two year olds, along with their parents/caregivers, are invited to join us on the outside lawn of Plum Borough Community Library for a special time of stories, rhymes, songs, instruments, scarves, parachutes, and maybe even bubbles!  Please bring a blanket or beach towel for you and your child to sit on. Afternoon Adventures: Book Club for grades 2-4. Wednesday, June 23 & 30 @ 1:00pm-2:00pm Join us for a once a week, two week book club for elementary students. There will be games, crafts, and lots of fun! This is ideal for students in grades 2-4. Once you register for the book club, stop by the Plum Library circulation desk to pick up the book, Meet the Crew at the Zoo by Patricia Reilly Giff.  Be certain to read the first six chapters prior to the start date. Upcoming Programs

Composting For Kids! What has a tail, but no arms or legs, and moves the earth?  Join Miss Natalie from Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling as we find out by reading a story, exploring the purpose of a vermicomposting bin and meeting the critters that live inside the bin. This program is all about kids and composting. Registration will open up a week prior to the event.
