Part Time Student Worker – Plum Borough Community Library
Come join our team! The Plum Borough Community Library has an immediate opening for a part-time Student Worker position (10 hours per week). Must be at least 15 years of age.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Circulation Services: Greet patrons, check materials in and out using the library’s system, and issue new library cards.
  • Customer Service: Answer routine questions, direct patrons to appropriate resources, and provide technology assistance.
  • Program Support: Set up and clean up for events, storytimes, and craft activities.
  • Collection Maintenance: Shelve materials, shelf-reading to ensure materials are in correct order and pulling requested materials for patrons.
  • Summer Reading Assistance: Assist with program registration and distribution of prize tickets, relay information about Summer Reading programs to patrons, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Basic technology skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patrons both in-person and by the phone.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population in a courteous manner.
  • Attention to detail is necessary to ensure that materials are properly tracked and shelved.
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

Schedule:

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.

Salary:

  • $10 per hour.
  • Status: Regular part-time, non-exempt

Federal Criminal Background Check, PA Criminal Record Check & PA Child Abuse History Clearance are required upon offer of employment.

Work Environment: Physical requirements include sitting; lifting of books and files of approximately 20 lbs or less; pushing of book cart of approximately 35 lbs. or less; bending, squatting, standing, and reaching as needed. Work requires extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and operating a keyboard.
